Mail Cart go down on opening day

The outdoor bowls season is up and running and competitive fixtures began for Royal Mail Cart A triples team at Sutton Bridge.

The opposition did enough to claim victory with Mail Cart going down 50-39 but gaining one rink and two points from the maximum 10 available.

The winning rink won 20-8 and was skipped by George Richardson, with John Breed and Graham Astley.

Rink scores: John Breed, Graham Astley, George Richardson won 20-8; Alan Shakespeare, Frank Lawson, Ian Brickles lost 13-19; Elaine Mycock, Graham Brickles, Rob Lacey lost 6-23.

Three-bowl Open Triples Tournament at Royal Mail Cart BC on Bank Holiday Monday, May 25.

Four games are guaranteed (played to EBA rules) and it is £15 per triple to enter (pay before the day).

Refreshments will be available all day at the pub with a barbecue during the afternoon.

The prize money stands at £75 for the winners, £60 for the runners-up and £45 for the third-placed team.
