Spalding Town’s unbeaten start to the Lincs ECB Premier League season was shattered by champions Sleaford on Saturday.
Tim Norris (28), Josh Newton (27) skipper Rob Ambrose (25) made the best contributions as Town were dismissed for 177 batting first – a total that proved way too light.
That’s because New Zealand ace Tim McIntosh clubbed an incredible 123 not out off just 98 balls in reply. Ably supported by captain Louis Kimber (54no), the all-rounder hit 17 fours and three sixes to help Sleaford to a whopping ten-wicket win.
The crushing loss leaves Spalding is sixth place, 19 points off top spot – which is now held by Bourne.
Results: Spalding 177, Sleaford 183-0 (McIntosh 123no, Kimber 54no); Skegness 133, Bourne 137-1 (Morgan 70); Louth 275-7 (Scott 75, G West 62). Market Deeping 158 (Wettasinghe 6-48); Billingborough 152 (Newman 53), Grimsby 154-7 (Singh 71no); Lindum 165-9 (Middleton 52), Market Rasen 146-7; Bracebridge Heath 220-8 (Cook 65, Houston 51), Woodhall Spa 224-7 (Evison 80).
