Magic Moulton Harrox cruise to derby victory over rivals Pinchbeck United

Moulton Harrox blew South Holland rivals Pinchbeck United away as they romped to a 4-1 ChromaSport Peterborough Premier Division win on Tuesday night.

Joe Townsend (2), Bobby Patterson and Ainsley Johnson netted for Harrox at Broad Lane, rendering Liam Ogden’s effort as mere consolation.

Moulton chief Dave Panton and Pinchbeck boss Ian Dunn both agreed that the result was the right one.

Panton said: “The lads were superb and showed the same determination, discipline and winning mentality as they did on Friday.

“On the whole we deserved the victory and played great football against a strong Pinchbeck team who, under good management, will get bigger and better as the season goes on.”

Dunn added: “Moulton wanted it more than us. We were second best in both penalty areas all night and failed to score when we were on top again.”

Moulton went ahead when Phil Groves slipped Townsend through to fire home, then made it 2-0 at half-time when defender Patterson pounced to bury a corner taken by skipper Billy King.

Pinchbeck bossed the early stages of the second period and deservedly pulled one back through Liam Ogden.

There was to be no comeback, though. After hitting the post himself, Ben Allen supplied Townsend’s second, before Johnson finished off a fine move to fire home a rare goal.

Moulton: Kenealy, Groves, Cardell, Patterson, Coddington, King, Cawthorne, Allen (Johnson), Townsend, Wheeler (Bentall), Bradbury.

Pinchbeck squad: Abell, Bishop, Brooks, Dickinson, Gardner, Lawe, Martin, Moore, A Murrell, B Murrell, Ogden. Subs: Coulam, Saebe.

  • Tom Gosling, Gary Chappell and Jonny Wiggins all bagged two goals each as Holbeach United Reserves won 8-0 at Leverington in the Premier Divison on Tuesday night.

Jordan Keeble also struck, while an own goal rounded off the rout.

Crowland Town were held 1-1 by Langtoft United at Snowden Field.
