Magic Johnson display inspires Consti B to derby win over club rivals

A 54 break from Mick Johnson was the highlight of Monday night’s action in the Spalding and District Billiards League.

Johnson (O170) also reeled off scores of 50 and 47 as his Consti B side beat friendly foes Consti C 7-0.

Team-mate Jason Rose (R30) also made a cool 30 break in the victory as Consti B grabbed their second win of the season.

Also winning 7-0 were Pyramid B, who maintained their 100 per cent record by seeing off basement boys Holbeach A – who are yet to record a win.

Veteran potter Hugh Pinner (O140) bagged breaks of 34, 29 and 21 in this one, while Des Forbes (R50) pocketed a 22 and both Maurice Phillipson (R80) and Martin O’Connor (R10) scored 20s.

Holbeach C remain second after dispatching Consti D 5-2. A big win for Ben Harding (R90) over the league’s highest handicapper Rob Childs (O230) proved key in that one. Childs did manage breaks of 34, 33 and 28, though.

Elsewhere, Pyramid A picked up their maiden win of the campaign with a 5-2 success at Gosberton A.

Eric Wyer (R50) made a 38 break in that one.

RESULTS

Gosberton A 2 Pyramid A 5 (510-530); Pyramid B 7 Holbeach A 0 (600-379); Holbeach C 5 Crowland B 2 (531-430); Consti C 0 Consti B 7 (412-600).
