Machu Picchu trek to raise cash for epilepsy

A former Spalding Grammar School student is going to trek Machu Picchu to raise money for The Epilepsy Society.

Chris Douglas has already raised £340 via a street collection in Spalding Town Centre in December.

He is hoping to break through £3,000 with the trek in August, to help people with epilepsy.

Epilepsy is a long-term neurological disorder that currently affects 600,000 people in the UK.

“Many people don’t realise just how prevalent epilepsy is in our society,” Chris said.

“The fact that one in every 100 people suffer and it is not very well known in the UK has made taking on the challenge even more important to me.”

The Loughborough University student is also organising a ball on April 11, at Holbeach Community Centre, to raise funds.
