Mace’s 12-darter fails to halt Tigers’ unbeaten charge

Tigers C remain unbeaten in Division One of the Spalding League, thanks to a 6-3 win over Rose and Crown.

Rose and Crown went 2-1 up after the pairs but Tigers won five of the six singles through Simon Hill, Mark Horspool, Ant Richardson, Duncan Hunt, and Steve Dent. Sole winner for Rose and Crown was Gary Mace.
The match saw 180s hit by Horspool, Hill, Hunt, Dent and Mace. In the pairs, Dan Carnell and Mace had a 17-dart leg and Hank Watson and Craig Twell an 18-dart leg. The best pairs leg came from Richardson and Hunt who had a 16-dart leg. Horspool and Hill both fired in 18-dart legs but the best leg came from Mace who had a 12-darter.
Drayman’s Arms A beat Punchbowl A 6-3. After going 2-1 up in the pairs, singles wins for Barry Smith, Phil Newton, Richard Cooper, and Josh Grainger settled matters. Newton and Cooper had an 18-dart leg in the pairs.
Consti A beat Lincoln A 6-3 after getting ahead in the pairs and holding the lead thanks to singles wins from Jack Chilvers, Chris Fidler, Graham Burgess, and Sam Roberts. Luke Rhodes and Steve Stancer won two singles games for the Lincoln.
Roberts had two 180s and a 16-dart leg, Fidler had a 180 and a 16-dart leg and Burgess had a 115 check out in the last leg against Ted Howling to win his singles game.
Mail Cart A beat Green Dragon A 7-2 in Division Two.
Cart won five of six singles games thanks to Josh Faulkner, Steve Rawding, Harry Faulkner, Paul Faulkner, and Daz Lawes. Lawes and Faulkner had an 18-dart leg in their win. The only singles winner for the Dragon was Simon Horton.
Tigers B edged out a much closer win against Drayman’s B. Drayman’s went 2-1 up in the pairs and then a singles win by Shane Thorpe put them 3-1 up before wins for Tyger Atkin, with an 18-dart leg, Ian McCreery, Phil Horspool and Mick Horspool sealed the win. Wigs Harrison won the last game of the night to make the result 5-4.
Abbey sailed to an 8-1 win against Ship, whose sole winner was Jake Hinta-Penta. Singles wins for the Abbey came from Dave Norbury, Dean Parker, JJ Bird, Elliot Capper, and Stan Browning. Norbury fired in a 180, Capper had a 100 check out and Travis Stapleton had a 117 check out in his pairs game.
Holbeach Services kept up their good run of form in Division Three with a 7-2 win over Green Dragon B.
After going 2-1 up in the pairs the Services kicked on and won five of the six singles thanks to Chris Chamberlain, Dan Blakey, Chris Blakey, Mike Ocock and Stu Stephens. Kieron Grove was the only singles winner for Dragon. Stephens had a 180 in his victory.
Mail Cart B beat Lincoln B 6-2 with doubles again making the difference. They went 2-1 up and then won four of the six singles. Wins came from Kieran Twitchen, Jonny Pell, Andy Taylor and Carl Kirk. John Charlton and Lesley Chamberlain were the two winners for the Lincoln.
Andy Taylor and Tracey Baldwin fired in an 18-dart leg in their winning pairs game.
The final game of the day saw a 6-3 victory for Consti D against Punchbowl B. Singles wins came from Steve Emery, Nick Collins, Colin Beckett and Ady Smith to seal the win. Stu Adams and James Metcalf were the winners for Punchbowl B.

l Last Friday saw the Hereward Sports Pinchbeck & District Summer League singles qualifiers take place.
Winning through in Division A were Steve Gaughan and Paul Blow, both from Lincoln Arms A, Craig Norbury, from Services Club B, and Green Dragon B’s Jason Williams.
Division B qualifiers were Dean Murray, from Services Club A, Phil Newton, from Drayman’s Arms B, and Kirton Leisure pair Joby Booth and Josh Smith.
All eight are through to the semi-finals, which will be played on finals night.
