A food and drink chain responsible for the likes of the Argo Lounge in Peterborough looks set to be opening up at the former Frankie and Benny’s site at Springfields.
Lounges, whose nearest branches also include the Cinco Lounge in Grantham and the Poco Lounge in King’s Lynn, is advertising for staff for its ‘new opening’ at the Spalding shopping outlet.
Its parent company Loungers has applied to South Holland District Council to serve alcohol from 10am until midnight and for ‘the provision of late night refreshment’ from 11pm to 12.30am, Monday to Sunday.
The notice has been placed where work on the former Frankie and Benny’s restaurant at Springfields is taking place.
That restaurant closed its doors in June 2023.
Lounges is currently looking for six positions for Springfields including a ‘General Manager – New Opening’.
After this week’s issue of the Spalding Voice went to press, a spokesperson for Loungers said that the company was in ‘advanced negotiations on a site in Spalding’.
“It’s a great area and we are hopeful to join the local community by opening a Lounge and creating between 30-40 new jobs,” the spokesman said. “Nothing is totally confirmed yet, however, for every Lounge we open, it’s important to us that we give back to the community – we partner with local charities to raise funds, our spaces are used for meetings of local groups and businesses, and we encourage customers to use us as a community hub.”
“We hope to have more info on the site in Spalding, soon.”
Springfields declined to comment.
There’s 220 restaurants in the UK operated under the Lounges brand. Loungers is also responsible for the Cosy Club brand and Brightside Roadside services.
