A student from Gosberton is gearing up to tackle her first London Marathon.
Louise Austen, who is currently studying for a degree in learning support on the road to teaching, is raising money for Children with Cancer UK.
The 30-year-old, who is on work placement at Gosberton Academy, has been inspired to tackle the 26-mile challenge by her close friend Jo Devaney whose son Lucas has been diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukaemia.
Louise commented: “This is my first marathon and I am very excited.
“For anyone that knows me understands that this is completely mad, but I am determined to do it for the two superheroes that I know. Seeing children close to you go through this is devastating, the moment you walk onto a children’s cancer ward is life changing.”
Louise has been holding a series of fundraising events and has been supported by the Gosberton Academy pupils who have been paying to enter a colouring competition to boost the charity coffers.
A charity evening is also being held on Saturday night at Gosberton Village Hall, doors open at 7.30pm.
Tickets are £8 each which includes live entertainment, a ploughman’s supper and raffle. They are available by calling Louise on 01775 841849 or 07834 553902.
