The latest food hygiene scores have been revealed and the number of top scores in South Holland is at an all time high.
With scores awarded from zero to five, the number within the district rating between three and five is currently 98.4 per cent.
“Our food, health and safety team works hard by continually monitoring standards across the district and offering advice and guidance on good hygiene practices,” said Coun Anthony Casson.
The council is urging people to check the rating of any venue before booking a festive meal.
“The fact that we currently have such high ratings is testament to their dedicated work, but we never get complacent and as Christmas approaches we want to make residents fully aware of how to check for ratings.
“A good food hygiene rating is something to be proud of. It matters to customers so we are encouraging all businesses in the district to display their rating and have a prosperous festive season,” said Coun Casson.
All the district’s food hygiene ratings are available online at the website of the Food Standards Agency: www.food.gov.uk/ratings
The awards are determined after an unannounced visit by food safety officers.
South Holland District regularly promotes the five-rated businesses on its Facebook page.
Currently there are 417 fives (very good) in the district; 131 are four (good), 53 are three (satisfactory), six have been rated two (improvement necessary), and four have been awarded a one (needing major improvement.) There are no businesses in the district which have achieved a zero.
