Long Sutton Hockey Club duo sign off with defeats

Both Long Sutton’s 2nd and 4th teams ended their respective East Men’s Hockey League campaigns with losses on Saturday.

Safe from relegation, the pressure was off Sutton 2nd in Division 3NW – but they went down 3-0 to City of Peterborough 5th.

The fixture was Stef Fox’s last game as skipper of the side, having announced he was stepping down before kick-off.

Sutton’s 4th side, meanwhile, lost 5-3 to champions Leadenham 2nd, with John Goodley (2) and Harry Synott getting the goals.

Brad Whitmore, a 13-year-old debutant in goal, gave a glimpse of the future with a fine performance, while the clash also served as a final game as skipper for Ian ‘Ringo’ White.
