The first trophy of The Spalding and District Snooker League’s finals has gone to Long Sutton’s Steve Godfrey and Tom Horspool.
The pair became the first-ever winners of the new Singles and Doubles competition at Crowland RBL on Sunday night, playing superbly to beat Gosberton’s Shane White and James Waterfall 3-0.
Horspool (O28) beat White (O21) in the first frame, before Godfrey (O35) defeated Waterfall (O21).
The Sutton pair then took the doubles to clinch the win.
The league’s match secretary Susan Lefley said: “It was a brilliant evening. A big thank you to the Crowland club for hosting the night.
“I would personally like to thank Jim Howe, Richard Neal, Neil Burton, Jodie Crowson, Sarah Howe and Katie for all of their help and hospitality.
“The competition was held in memory of Tom Lee and we are so grateful to Kevin Fitter for donating a wonderful trophy. I’m sure that Tom was watching tonight and hopefully we made him very proud.”
The full finals weekend gets under way at Springfields Events Centre tomorrow (Friday).
