Long Sutton charity runner Geoff slays Ely Monster Half Marathon

Long Sutton charity champion Geoff Palmer (67) powered through his first ever half marathon this weekend.

Taking part in the Ely Monster Half Marathon, Geoff finished in impressive time.

“I completed the run in two hours and nine minutes. I was pleased as I had thought around two hours 15 mins.”

Geoff said he enjoyed the day and the views along the 21.1km course that started at Ely Cathedral.

“It was a lovely course, running on the bank of the River Ouse and then along quiet and flat droves to Wicken and back with great views across the Fens,” he said.

This was Geoff’s longest run yet and he felt the burn towards the end. “I found the first eight miles easy but then it became warmer and I had to drag myself over some of the last five miles, but I did it!”

Geoff’s run has so far raised £600 for a community room and disabled toilet at Long Sutton Church. Sponsor him at mydonate.bt.com/events/2020/446952
