Little Stars puts your child’s safety and happiness first

Children’s happiness and safety are the be all and end all at one of the area’s newest pre-schools.

Little Stars opened in September, but has already forged strong links with Surfleet Primary School, where it is located, to ensure a smooth transition to “big school” for its pre-schoolers.

The pre-school occupies a mobile classroom within the grounds of the school and boasts its own outdoor area, as well as being able to make use of the school’s facilities.

Owner Bev Gromett, who is a qualified teacher, said: “The children’s happiness and safety is of utmost importance to us.

“We feel we provide a happy, safe and stimulating environment for the children to become confident learners who enjoy exploring and investigating.

“We are always striving to provide new resources for the children.”

This recently included a donation by Surfleet Parish Council of an outdoor playhouse for use by the children.

The pre-school has four full time staff. Places are available for “funded” two, three and four-year-olds for up to 15 hours a week.

Bev says that although the pre-school is still in its first year, it is already thriving and is encouraging parents to apply now for places for their children from this September.

She is also advising parents of two-year-olds to find out if they are eligible for funding for their child and apply for the free hours at Little Stars.

She said: “We strive to provide quality early years education in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage Framework.

“We have highly qualified staff with a higher staff to children ratio than recommended in the framework.

“I am a qualified teacher with seven years’ teaching experience and we also have another member of staff who is trained to Level 5 in Early Childcare.”
