Litter pick by Spalding Water Taxi service ahead of new season

The Spalding Water Taxi service prepared for its season launch on Good Friday (March 26) with a litter pick of the water and banks.

Three vessels and ten personnel were used on the River Welland and Coronation Channel across the two-day pick.
Thirty five bags of rubbish were collected as well as prams, TVs and bikes.

Water taxi manager Simon Clarke said: “We covered from Little London bridge to the twin bridges, and the Coronation Channel as well.
“A lot of litter from high waters last week was washed on to the banks as well.”

The water taxi service has held its fare for a 12th year – £3 per person each way between the jetties in Double Street and Springfields.
