Literary Lounge to launch in town

A Spalding bookshop is launching The Literary Lounge.

The evenings at Bookmark will be with authors and include a question and answer section plus signing of the book.
The first session is next Thursday (July 20) with Sue Hubbard, whose novel Flatlands has recently been published.
She has published three acclaimed novels and numerous collections of poetry, and was commissioned to create London’s largest public art poem at Waterloo.
Flatlands is inspired by Paul Gallico’s classic wartime novella The Snow Goose.
It’s followed on Thursday, September 28 with Anne Fletcher discussing her book Widows of the Ice – The Women that Scott’s Antarctic Expedition Left Behind.
It is the story of forgotten wives, whose love and support helped to shape one of the most iconic moments in British history.
On Thursday, October 19 Malcolm Moyes will be discussing Reprieved at Lincoln.
In the second half of the 19th century, three women from very different backgrounds were convicted of infanticide and sentenced to death at the Lincoln Assizes – Lucy Anne Buxton, Emma Wade and Selina Stanhope.
All three women were eventually reprieved from the hangman’s noose.
Reprieved delves into the sombre stories of these women and the impact of their crimes on their respective communities.
Renowned archaeologist Francis Pryor will be at Bookmark on Thursday, November 2 for A Fenland Garden: Creating a haven for people, plants and wildlife.
It’s the story of how he created a haven in a remote corner of the Fens. This is a narrative of the making of a garden, but it is also about reclaiming a patch of ground for nature and wildlife.
Tickets are £10 which includes a glass of wine or juice.
They start at 7pm and include a question-and-answer session and signing of the book.
