Lions’ pride in helping charity

Air Amb 1 editA life-saving helicopter has received £2,000 to keep it airborne thanks to a “pride of Lions”.

Spalding Lions played host to a Zone D meeting, which saw members from Bourne, Market Deeping and Sleaford get together to hand over of a cheque to Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire Air Ambulance.

The cheque was presented by zone chairman Paul Whitworth to Tom and Heather Chambers, of the air ambulance.

Heather said: “We are very pleased to receive the money. Our helicopter is fully equipped and staffed by two paramedics and It can literally make the difference between life and death.

“Every year we need to raise £1.8 million to keep our air ambulance flying. To date with your generous support this has been possible, please continue to help spread the word and keep this vital lifesaving service running.’

Each club will be awarded a certificate of thanks from the air ambulance.

Lion President Elaine Mothers, on receiving the certificate on behalf of Spalding Lions, said: “It is a worthy cause and one that is necessary but hopefully one that we will never have to call upon.”
