Lions mark 55 years in town

The Spalding Lions celebrated its 55th Charter Anniversary with a special evening of celebration.

Family and friends were invited to attend the event at The Woodlands Hotel on Saturday, May 16, along with representatives from Lions district team, Spalding Rotary and chairman of South Holland District Council Coun Jan Whitbourn.

It started with a three-course meal followed by speeches and presentations by district governor elect Ian Constable and Spalding Lions’ vice president Eileen Robson.

A spokesman for the Lions said: “The evening finished with dancing and a lot of catch up chatting with old friends and new.”

Coun Whitbourn said of the event: “It was a fabulous evening with great people.”
