Lions kick-start Disneyland fund

Spalding Lions have helped a ten-year-old cancer sufferer take a step closer to his dream holiday.

Freddie Betts, from Market Deeping, is fighting leukaemia and his grandad and two work colleagues are currently walking from Market Harborough to the Wash to raise funds to send him on the holiday of a lifetime.
Spalding Lions found out about the fundraising challenge and decided to support the men by donating £500 to the cause.
The medical treatments necessary to combat Freddie’s leukaemia are extensive and long, the program requires him to undertake chemotherapy for two and a half years, take specialised medications and make frequent hospital visits.
The Lions describe Freddie as a typical young boy, full of life, laughter and according to his grandad John, he is sometimes very naughty!
John and two work colleagues, Stuart and James, want to raise the funds so that Freddie can be taken on a trip to Disneyland Paris or maybe even the USA.
They have set up a JustGiving page for donations which can be found at www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/Freddie-To-Paris
Julie Grant, Lions vice president, said: “This worthwhile appeal has only recently gone live and at our recent business meeting it was decided that we would give it a good start by donating £500 towards this trip.
“Good luck to John, Stuart and James on their walk, we are sure you will get loads more support along the way.”
