Lightsabers and cosplay at Spalding comic-con

It’s not every day that former EastEnders stars rub shoulders with storm troopers and Jedi knights.

But everything is possible at a Geeks gathering and Spalding’s Springfields Events Centre was packed at the weekend for a two-day event.

Former EastEnders John Altman (Nasty Nick) and Anna Karen (Aunt Sal and Olive Rudge from 70s show On The Buses) were joined by Boycie (John Challis) from Only Fools and Horses as part of the fun.

Actor Ian McNeice, who played Winston Churchill in Dr Who (and restaurant owner Bert in Doc Martin) was also in town along with Dr Who actors Clem So and Colin Spaull.

Frazer Hines (Emmerdale and Dr Who) also posed for selfies with fans.

A total of 11 guests were arranged by organiser Mark Long who held the show in Spalding for the third time.

Many of the 2,000-plus of visitors dressed in character for the weekend and a similar event will be held at LIncolnshire Showground on April 27 and details can be found on the firm’s Facebook page.
