Life savers thanked at event

A man whose life was saved by the air ambulance was among those who decided where money raised at a special get together went.

Bob Madge was one of those at an event put on by district councillors Glynis Scalese and Gary Taylor recently which raised £700 for charity.
When it came to suggestions for where the money should go, Bob told his story of how he collapsed while playing golf at Fulney.
“I was playing with two ex-serviceman, so they knew what to do,” Bob said. “Still, the air ambulance saved my life.
“I was in a coma for ten days but its added a number of good years to my life,” said the 87-year-old of the incident in 2017.
As well as enjoying a chat and food and drink, attendees enjoyed a raffle for charity and music from Travis Graham.
Those in attendance were asked where the money should go.
As well as the Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire Air Ambulance a third of the money was donated to Macmillan Cancer Support due to Sharon Tear’s London Marathon attempt this year while the Rock School Bus is also set to benefit.
Coun Taylor said: “All the guests had a very good time and were very generous by buying raffle tickets and by donating prizes.
“Myself and Glynis would like to thank all those involved in making the event special, especially Gan from the Woodlands hotel and to Travis Graham for providing the music.
“We are aiming to host further fundraising events for local good causes this year.”
