LETTERS – Why steal from charity shops?

We hear a lot these days about British values, I guess to help people and to keep us all in line with what are changing ideals of living in relationship together.

One value is clear in all communities across this nation, is that we do not steal.

In other words, to obtain goods or services, we pay the proper price, all above board.

If we can get a discount, all well and good, but theft is clearly wrong.

At our two charity shops in Holbeach, almost everyone shopping is lovely, but we have a small few who are not so lovely.

Donations left on the doorstep overnight are stolen completely or partly.

People who pay for one item with others hidden away.

Those that change price labels to cheat on the till charges.

The real cost is much more than the loss of funds. Is is our disappointment of such tactics when our team’s whole aim is to support our communities of Holbeach and South Holland.

Let’s hope for values that we can live with for the benefit of all.
