LETTERS – Why repair a good road?

I write regarding what seems to me to be an utter waste of council money, the top dressing of Old Main Road between The Old Black Lion pub and the cul de sac adjacent to Godfreys Garage in Gedney.

Completed on what was a perfectly good and hardly used stretch of road, why on earth was this done when in nearby Chapelgate there are pot holes?

I am now paying more than £2,000 council tax annually, more than I pay income tax.

Why not rather more thrift from the council?
