LETTERS – Where have the flowers gone?

Where have the flowers gone?
Spalding used to be so much fun with flowers for everyone
Where have the flowers gone?
Why does Spalding town centre have none?
Is it something that we have done?
Maybe the council think we won’t notice
And as the plant troughs lay idle
We all pass by and think…
Where have the flowers gone?
Why not plant shrubs and be done!
They’ll last a lot longer and won’t need half as much sun!
So now we have to tolerate the drunks and druggies who we fear and dread instead
And the pigeons who poop on the plant boxes and streets covered with crumbs of bread
But where have the flowers gone?
That we very much prefer
With the blossom they bring that fills the air with an aroma that’s free
Please plant flowers or shrubs in Spalding today or even a tree!
Councillors, have we not paid you? Perhaps you want more!
Well the people who live here, we’ve all had enough and are feeling very down
So councillors of Spalding, do something quickly or face losing the town!
