LETTERS – Where has lamp gone?

It has come to my attention via social media that the lamp standard which was positioned outside the old Johnson Hospital and possibly dates back to the hospital’s construction or thereabouts was recently hit by a vehicle causing the lamp standard and mounting plinth considerable damage, at this point in time it is not known what has happened to the lamp standard.

The three parts of the plinth have been positioned and taped as shown in my photograph – it was commented that this was done by SHDC workmen but the standard’s whereabouts is unknown at this point in time.

It would be very sad if this little piece of Spalding history has been lost to the town, it is believed the lamp standard and plinth belonged to the hospital’s owners Dyden Ltd whom you ran an article about in 2016.
