LETTERS – What is happening in town?

As the town gears up for Flower Parade Day, everything seems to be centred around Springfields again.
Not the committee’s fault, as they sought to keep it in the town but could find nowhere suitable.
I would, however, love to see an article featuring what is going on in the actual town centre to try and encourage visitors to come into town instead of staying at Springfields all day.
For instance, I know that three churches – Baptist, Methodist and United Reformed – are all opening for catering and United Reformed is also decorating the church with musical themed displays.
The Gentlemen’s Society is having a small stand outside the museum which is closed due to refurbishment.
The usual Saturday market is being moved to the Sheep Market.
There may be other things going on that I’m unaware, but we must make sure that the town doesn’t suffer like it did last time the parade was moved to Springfields, otherwise there will be no public support for it another year.
