LETTERS – What about athletics offerings?

I read the article about having a say on the new health hub in The Voice on March 21, wow £26 million estimated on Spalding’s new sports complex.
It will almost certainly be a lot more than that, everything always costs more than originally planned.
“Sport For All” we all remember that don’t we? And Spalding is going to get that, at such a massive expense.
Well not really, I have seen nothing that says that there will be an athletics facility, which means no athletics training, no track, no long jump, triple jump, high jump, pole vault, javelin throw, shot put, hammer throw and anything you can think of.
Athletics are taught at school, but the poor Spalding school children won’t be able to participate or succeed, because their town’s multi million pound sports facility will not accommodate them or prospective athletes from far and wide who would love to come to Spalding to compete in athletic competitions.
“Sport for all”, I don’t think they really mean it somehow.
Maybe a couple of play parks in Spalding, at a fraction of the cost, where the kids can let off steam and kick a ball around?
There are very few places that they can do that without getting told off.
