LETTERS – We own last portrait of Flinders

We own what is probably the last portrait of Matthew Flinders.
The painting is on display for the first time this week at Donington Church for the reburial of Matthew.
The family and Matthew Flinders Foundation have welcomed the exhibit.
We are going to sell the painting at auction in Australia later this year.
There is a wonderful chequered history of the other portrait of Matthew purchased by the disgraced financial Alan Bond.
The painting is expected to sell at auction between 1.5 million and 6 million Australian dollars.
We have zero interest in publicity for ourselves personally, this is just about a wonderful English adventurer and his portrait.
It’s a shame his life is not well known in the UK.
