I am teaming up with my colleague Gary Taylor to invite you to join our Community Speed Watch initiative and come to the next training session on Monday, March 25 at The Castle Sports Complex, 6pm.
Like you, I am increasingly concerned about the number of speed related incidents in South Holland and want to help to do something about it. If you are as tired as I am of speeding drivers in our community please consider joining us and being part of a group in your area.
We have held many CSW training sessions already and I can tell you that it is working in many villages around South Holland. Many volunteers have come forward and are increasingly getting results and the statistics are already showing improvement.
As the co-ordinator for Community Speed Watch throughout South Holland, I believe that, with sufficient volunteers, we can all help to make a difference and reduce this menace over time. We have conclusively demonstrated in villages locally how speeds have been reduced and those who are sent police letters as a result of being caught speeding rarely risk getting a second letter. To date no one has had a visit from the police as a result of a third speeding notification.
I feel sure that if we can find sufficient volunteers to help, then we can all make a real difference.
I must stress that this scheme is the only police approved road safety scheme in operation and via its control organisation, Lincolnshire Road Safety Partnership, many volunteers have been trained to use speed guns safely and effectively. There is, of course, a training scheme to attend and protocols to adhere to but be assured it is not too onerous.
This initiative is administered by Lincolnshire Road Safety Partnership on behalf of the Lincolnshire Police & Crime Commissioner.
