LETTERS – We must stand together

No Government would find it straightforward to cope with the current pandemic. Whatever route is taken, whichever decisions are made, some will be disappointed.

The Prime Minister is walking a tightrope with loss of life on one side and the loss of livelihoods on the other.

His leadership in trying to do so deserves support from across politics.

Now is not the time for political rancour or spiteful criticisms.

Other politicians should follow the excellent example of our local champion, Sir John Hayes MP.

His comments and actions on the pandemic – supporting local works for those in need over the months since the crisis began do him great credit.

All our representatives and leaders, along with the public, must stand together in the national interest.
