LETTERS – Village hall allegations are untrue

In response to the letter in The Voice, dated December 20, 2023 regarding Gedney Dyke Village Hall.
I am the chairperson of our village hall committee and take offence to the slanderous remarks that have been written about us.
The event that was mentioned in the letter was a private booking and other than the booking fee, there was no other financial gain for the Gedney Dyke Village Hall.
The implied comment that the hall has lost out on £1,000, due to the mean spirited committee is misleading and untrue.
My understanding was that it was always going to be a charitable event, and The Alzheimers Society is a worthy recipient.
In regard to the cancellation of other events similar to the Smile event, there were no other similar charitable events booked.
Normally I wouldn’t be drawn into such a petty attempt to undermine the committee, but the author’s allegations are misleading and untrue and their actions are verging on harassment.
