So Police and Crime Commissioner Mark Jones believes that there is not any two tier policing – can I ask him what planet he’s living on because it sure ain’t Lincolnshire, England, Earth?
We in Long Sutton and Sutton Bridge have always been part of Lincolnshire and South Holland; we pay our council tax but what do we get for our money? Bins collected, a policeman on a blue light, that’s just about it.
Last week I saw a police car behind a Land Rover Defender at the junction of Gedney Road and Lime Walk. The Land Rover had an illegal number plate, but did said policeman pull it over? No, he just waited for traffic to clear and went towards Holbeach.
In Long Sutton we have a 7.5 tonne weight limit, can I ask PCC Marc Jones how many over-weight vehicles have been prosecuted and when was the last one?
I have lots of letters from Chief Constable Paul Gibson with the same apologetic story that they can’t do anything about the speeding in Long Sutton because of financial restraints, but they have just had an increase from the Government and LCC (our council tax).
So I say to Marc Jones the sooner you lose your job and Paul Gibson our Chief Constable gets the sack the better, they have done nothing to enhance public views of the police if anything they have made the public distrust the police.
Lincolnshire Road Safety Partnership are no better, although they will speak to you on the phone. Now the parish council has paid for three speed monitors, LRSP has told me categorically that they won’t pay any more for road safety until someone is killed.
