LETTERS – Thanks for restoring my faith in kindness

Recently after working a 12-hour shift, I called into a Spalding chip shop to grab myself some food. Unfortunately when I came to pay, my card wouldn’t work in their machine.
I went to an adjacent ATM and still my card wouldn’t work, so I went back to the chippy, apologised and said that I’d have to leave the food as I couldn’t pay.
A kind lady came dashing over and was insistent that I took £20, stating that this was her good deed for the day.
I thanked her and asked her name so that I could return the money at a later date, but she said no.
Once I had my change I went to give it to her but she had vanished.
I’d truly like to thank the lady for her kindness and will donate £20 somewhere to make it right.
Thank you again, your charitable act has restored my faith in human kindness.
