There are so many people we wish to thank for their help and assistance, all of whom furthered the success of the event at Pinchbeck Community Hub and Library on Saturday, September 22.
Firstly, an enormous thank you to Chris Schofield (the ‘Mastermind’ behind the Event) – also many thanks to Jane Amess for her help in organising the publicity.
A special thanks to the following: Christine and Richard Austen for persuading the Spalding & District Amateur Radio Society to come along (they gave their time willingly) and provided Morse Code demonstrations (how to create your name in Morse Code), instructions into running a radio station and also the extremely popular pinball competition all held throughout the day; to Bev, Eve, Dick and John (Peppermint Junction) – a folk, country, Americana bank who played brilliantly twice during the day; Helen, from Lincs Dog Training, who carried out training and demonstrations throughout the morning, thank you also to our canine visitors (and their owners to the Hub; to Sharon and Ian Hoult from Spalding Gentlemen’s Society, who came along with a fascinating display of artefacts from the ‘Healey Dig’, brought old maps of Pinchbeck and a presentation of Reverend Edmund Palgrave’s book (C17th Vicar from St Mary’s Church during the English Civil War); our thanks to Coun Terry Moore who helped source lunchtime refreshments and freshly cut flowers; to the Pinchbeck Women’s Institute for their display.
Thanks also to Coun Emma Beavis who ‘manned’ the lunchtime kitchen and the delicious homemade cakes made by Julie Collins and Eric Vickers. Enormous thanks to Carole Lewry who, at extremely short notice, manned the fruit and flower table to enormous success, to Katie and her team from Beautiful Designs by Katie Lane, who hire a room at the Hub and create and sell their bespoke designs of jewellery and finally, to all the visitors to the Hub (we had over 200 visitors on Saturday), many of whom visited us for the first time.
On a personal level I cannot conclude without passing on my extra special thanks to my colleagues, Chris Taylor and
Mo Harvey for their dedication to the task of encouraging the whole community to use our facilities.
The Community Hub & Library was not the only venue in Pinchbeck holding the open day/s.
The weekend of Saturday and Sunday, September 22 and 23 saw many events taking place throughout Pinchbeck.
The buildings which opened their doors were Pinchbeck Community Hub & Library, Pinchbeck Village Hall, St Mary’s Church Hall and St Mary’s Church and Pinchbeck Baptist Church.
We believe the event helps promote a cohesive and vibrant community.
