I would like to thank so many people for attending my civic service at St Mary and St Nicolas Church taken by our new Father Rob Parker-McGee.
Fr Rob spoke so sincerely about community, being together and working as a team.
We took the opportunity to present him with his Royal British Legion scarf as he has agreed to be our ‘father’ for the forthcoming parades. Also thank you to Pastor Chas Sandhu from the Lighthouse Church for the beautiful prayers and words for the future.
The Peterborough Highland Pipe Band were fantastic, playing so beautifully.
Also thank you to the ladies who baked all weekend for the event and to Tim Brant for all your help with the parking.
Thank you to the choir from the Spalding Parish Church of England Day School. It was so lovely to hear them sing We’ll Meet Again. Thank you so much to the amazing teachers, Rachel Winfield, Kim Bird and their team.
A big thank you to our standard bearer, Graham Hewitt, for doing a great job as always.
Many thanks to all the cadets – police, air and sea – and the Brownies, thank you Carole Baker for bringing them, and thank you to all the parents who made sure they came.
Thank you to Robin Hancox for reading the lesson to us so beautifully,
Thank you to all the councillors and to the mayors who helped me with this event and special thanks to the Deputy Lord Lieutenant, Petronella Keeling, William and Jane Webb, Sir John and Lady Susan Hayes.
Special thanks to the church wardens and ladies for all your hard work. It was a long day being there for the morning service and again a service after mine, I truly appreciate what you did.
Also to Sam Bradley for all your hard work in supporting me with this event, I know it was above and beyond.
Thank you all, without you, this event would not be a success.
It was great to see so many people from our community, my sincere thanks to you all.
I am sorry if I have not mentioned everyone, but if you were there supporting me, I can’t tell you how much I appreciated it. The effort and dedication you have given me means the world.
