LETTERS – Take time to read more and say less

I noticed that one of this week’s letters to the editor just wasn’t fair to local MP John Hayes.

When Mr Barfoot says that he hasn’t seen Sir John write about local topics, he evidently doesn’t take the trouble to read very much, given that Sir John regularly writes in local papers about a huge range of issues.

Mr Barfoot clearly didn’t read Sir John’s article this week on the shortage of NHS dentists in Lincolnshire, or a few weeks ago on the cost of living situation, or on sewage discharge and its local impact before that.

Sarcastically referring to Sir John’s article on A-level/GCSE results day dismisses the achievements of the schools, teachers and students that the MP was congratulating – but maybe Mr Barfoot doesn’t value education.

Sir John consistently campaigns on issues near and dear to the people of South Holland & The Deepings and raises them in Parliament.

I hope in the future that Mr Barfoot takes the time to read more and say less.
