LETTERS – Take Back Control of our country

It is unfortunate that some remoaners are confused about the clear plan which Vote Leave outlined for our departure from the EU in the run up to the referendum on 23rd June, 2016 – British Independence Day.

If your readers want to compare the remoaners campaign of disinformation and false news against the facts, they can do so by visiting the Vote Leave website and take a look at the widely publicised section called – Leave Looks Like. The link is below: http://www.voteleavetakecontrol.org/briefing.html

The plan was, and still is quite simple – Take Back Control of our laws, Take Back Control of our Borders, and Take Back Control of our Economy. In summary, the plan is to Take Back Control of our country, its independence, freedoms and sovereignty. We will bring the EU’s constant power grabs – by stealth and without our consent – to an end and return those powers to the British people.

I say return them to the British people, because there seems to be some confusion in Parliament and among the agitators in the Remoan clique as to who those powers belong to. It would seem that Parliament believes it is sovereign (Supreme). However, I would say this: “Parliament is not sovereign; it is the British people that are sovereign – they are our powers and our freedoms – and they have no right to surrender any of them without our consent.

Parliament does not own these powers; they are only on loan. Parliament’s duty is to exercise those powers lawfully and, at the end of its period in office, to return them to the people. New elections then determine to whom these powers should be entrusted.

It is up to the British people to take back control of what is theirs and we have given our instructions – through the 2016 referendum and again at the 2017 General Election – to our Parliament, to our Government, to our MPs to take back control of the powers and freedoms they have given away without our consent and return them to the people.

It is unfortunate that the remoaners do not seem to understand this most basic of democratic principles. Democracy has and always will be the foundations of our prosperity and our right to survive as an independent self-governing nation.
