LETTERS – Support for mental health

This is a message to all former and current mental health patients who feel isolated and need help in understanding how the Mental Health Act isn’t being used to benefit the very people it is there to help and protect.

Too often there can be a stigma and anti-social behaviour towards such people as yourselves.
I, as a mental health patient, have suffered the abuse, degradation, mis-diagnosis and use of the wrong and life-threatening medication.

I have been in the system since 1995 and have the burning passion and desire to save anyone else going though what I and others like me have been through.

Did you know you have the right to choose which hospital you go to, if anyone wants you to be admitted.

Also if you attend a clinic or appointments at a particular Community Mental Health Trust unit you can be transferred to another one elsewhere if you are not happy with the one you are currently with.

You can request for a change of psychiatrist or community psychiatric nurse.

I will soon be setting up a new website entitled Mind4life, where you will be able to access information about services available to you and books available about diet and mental health.
Email me at [email protected] with your problems and concerns.
