As a business in Spalding town centre I have to reply to a letter in the voice by John Hayes.
Isn’t it enough that this council allowed Springfields in the first place which has been the decline of the town which was once rich with independents and flourishing little businesses?
The town is now struggling to survive what with the internet etc.
To give the council one top mark they have turned this proposal down twice but as we all know they will keep applying and eventually they will get there.
I suppose the decision will be made by townies who do not mind ruining a rural area because it won’t effect them!
There is another thought – can you imagine the chaos at the roundabout with traffic, which is now overloaded and at certain times you are queueing for a long time?
Who are the people who will overturn the refusal from the council? Who do they think they are to ruin a town? Instead why don’t they play a part in working with landlords with empty shops to encourage shops to come here by giving them cheaper rents and business rates, shops that the town people want and enjoy to visit.
Why can’t these decision makers work towards building the town into a place that people want to visit and spend time in?
Spalding needs to flourish and grow and be great again.
