Note to farming communities regarding mud on the highways – it is not good enough to have signs either side of a field exit stating mud on the road.
You have a commitment of safety to other road users and scattering remnants of your fields across the width and length of A and B roads is not acceptable.
Use some of your profits to install hard wash down areas to exit areas of farmland enforcing operators to wash down before entering the highways plus always have machine and hand brush facilities at harvesting sites.
All road users are at risk from the mud danger but especially motorcyclists, cyclists, etc, as I personally have had to nip up several times when entering a bend or piece of unlit carriageway as the mud and slurry is across the width and length of the carriageway, especially when it has rained.
Farmers please bear this in mind before there is a serious, costly in incident in your area.
