LETTERS – Sad over lack of council response

It’s been four weeks since I wrote to your paper regarding the state of Spalding and I have been gratified to see a number of people agree that South Holland District Council need to do more to improve the appearance of the town centre.

I am really quite disappointed though that there has been absolutely no response from SHDC. I used the term “Zombie Council” hoping to provoke some sort of response; hopefully reassuring us that the issues raised were being looked into and steps would be taken.

The council offices are opposite the tragically derelict and forlorn Johnson Hospital and sadly, I think this underlines the complete disrespect SHDC have both for their tax payers and the fabric of the town; as this once well maintained public building is allowed to slowly fall down.

Perhaps it’s time the people of Spalding used their vote to inject some new life into the inanimate corpse.

Perhaps an Ouija board would be a better ‘medium’ to get a response from them? I did wonder if the Voice could perhaps run a subscription amongst its readership, to pay for a headstone reading “South Holland District Council – Not dead, just sleeping”.
