LETTERS – Remember Forgotten Army

Victory in Europe Day (VE Day) was on May 8, 1945.

The war against the Japanese continued for a further four months until September 2, 1945.

Those still fighting the Japanese became known as The Forgotten Army and it would appear that Holbeach Parish Council is continuing this trait , as nothing has been arranged to remember those who carried on fighting the Japanese until September 1945.

Holbeach lost a Burma veteran Jack Mills, aged 100 years, in July. Jack was known for saying the Kohima Epiaph on Remembrance Sundays.

Let them not become The Forgotten Army ever again.
