I write to state my thinking on this change of refuse collection service from black and green bags to bins.
This is going to cause an awful lot of footpath congestion.
As the collection in our area of Sutton Bridge doesn’t happen until mid morning on Monday and Tuesday, the footpath will be taken up with these bins as a lot of people put them out the night before and won’t bring them away probably while evening as most are at work until evening.
Consequently pedestrians or people with mobile wheelchairs will not be able to use the footpaths.
Has the council thought about old people especially old ladies, the difficulty they are going to have in getting these bins to the footpaths?
In my opinion, this is going to cause a big problem and I think you will see an awful lot of fly tipping, it’s bad enough as it is, of only the hierarchy in Spalding could ride around this area and see what is happening, especially in Woad Lane and heading towards the sewage treatment and along by the river towards Guy’s Head and towards Gedney Drove.
They might well have to think about how to stop that fly tipping and this change will definitely make this worse.
This doesn’t just apply to Sutton Bridge, what about all the other outlying villages that this is going to affect?
Councillors, please have another think about this.
Mr I Snaith
