LETTERS – Panellists were aggressive

In response to Mike Chapman’s letter in last week’s Voice:

I have been to several Any Questions broadcasts over the years and have never been asked to declare my political persuasion.

Whose views represent the town? Is it the ones who react to every initiative by saying ‘waste of money’ and the like (and who can’t manage to include a verb!), or is it the ones who try to talk the town up in the hope that things will get better?

I belong to the latter group but would not expect everyone to agree with me.

I found last Friday’s broadcast disappointing in many ways, but I don’t think it had anything to do with Guardian readers, of the whom I am one, proudly fitting the caricature by wearing socks and sandals!

Personally, I found the panellists unnecessarily aggressive. Audiences are audiences, unpaid.

The fact that most of the AQ audiences seem to be against Brexit, for example, just shows which people happen to enjoy attending those shows.
