LETTERS – No budget help for pensioners

I’m a pensioner.

Hardly anything the government has announced to deal with the cost of living crisis will benefit me.

A minimal increase in pension, despite inflation already at 6.2 per cent.

Being retired I don’t pay National Insurance, so no benefit there.

But I’m at home all day and my electricity went up yesterday from 20p per kWh to 27p. I have oil central heating, but do not have it running at the moment, because the cost of filling the oil tank has gone up from £200 last September to £500 now.

Council Tax has increased, but the £150 rebate the government is constantly crowing about barely makes a dent.

I hope voters across the nation will severely punish the Conservatives at every forthcoming election.

They have been in power now for 12 years and everyone can see the state of the nation today.

Everyone who continues to vote Conservative is a traitor to a large majority of families and individuals.
