LETTERS – New rules will only deter people

I refer to the council’s article (June 17) guidelines on following their one way pedestrian zone which has been designated in yellow 2m distancing.

What an utter waste of council tax payers’ money!

When in town you’re out in the open and have plenty of social distancing room, why does the council think we need herding along like cattle, only for us to then go into a tiny shop?

Plus the council wardens “advising” us on how to walk around. Both of which will only deter people from shopping.

On the subject of the market, why would you split it up?

There were hardly any stalls before the virus and will be even fewer if the council continues in this haphazard way.

It’s hard enough for the existing shops and stalls to survive in Spalding without all these unnecessary measures.

I saw on Tuesday, June 16 how confusing these yellow signs were to certain people whilst trying their best not to walk into all wardens and others, looking at the markings and finding the shops required.

I’m all for following the advised guidelines, but these are more of a hindrance than of help.

This will deter me and others from going into town so how has this helped?
