LETTERS – Maybe make it two roles?

It is with sadness that I read that we are on the cusp of changing a long tradition of having a tulip queen for the town.
Opening up the competition to any gender has saddened so many people who are not able to email in.
I work with the aging population within the town all with sound minds and they are expressing their disbelief at the changes.
The answer is a simple one, keep the queen and run an ambassador role of mixed agenda and there’s plenty of room on the float to accommodate both.
Once this line has been crossed there will be no turning back.
