LETTERS – Make people responsible for footpaths outside their homes

In regard to the letter in September 5 issue.

My wife and I lived in married quarters in Germany for many years during my Army career, over 30 years ago.

All citizens were responsible for the upkeep of the footpath outside their house, including the gutters and for the removal of snow and de-icing the footpath in winter.

To this day I keep up that practice. It should be law in UK also.
