LETTERS – ‘Little or no regard for the facts’

The murder of police officer Matiu Ratana has rightly appalled every decent and law abiding citizen in the country.

In the last couple of months the police have faced a level of vitriol and violence unprecedented in recent years as they have attempted to carry out their duties.

This is almost matched by the level of abuse hurled at them by the national media in print and on the airwaves. Everyone stopped by the police has been hailed as a victim and another reason to give the police a good kicking.

Journalists and radio presenters seeking to outdo each other as they seek to embellish their liberal credentials piling pressure on the police with little or often no regard for the facts.

You need an example?

Right across the media networks all we heard after it happened was white police shoot black lady paramedic in Louisiana.

The tragic death of Breonna Taylor in the USA has led to a number of Black Lives Matter demonstrations in the UK rightly concerned at the manner of her death. Regrettably her demise was a direct result of her boyfriend Kenneth Walker shooting a police officer Sgt Matttingly as he entered her flat on a drugs raid.

Haven’t read that in any of the British press or heard it on the news channels?

Disturbingly, we have reached the stage in this country where the media don’t want the facts to get in the way of the narrative.
