LETTERS – Letter couldn’t be more wrong

Mr Wilson’s letter in The Voice on February 25 could not be further from the truth, and is absolutely NOT what he alleges.

In 2013 at county council three of us as independents, worked together with the three Lib Dem councillors and the Conservatives, to create the ‘Lincolnshire Administration’, a COALITION which lasted until the four years were completed in 2017.

At no time did either of us stop being independent county councillors, as which we remain to this day.

‘Independence’ allows me to back good ideas for Lincolnshire in general and for my own area in particular, without having to refer to any party headquarters in our capital city!

I regard ‘not being in an administration’ or ‘constructive engagement’ as much better, and truer expressions than a negative one like ‘opposition’.

As recently as last month I backed the 2021-2022 budget (a Conservative proposal), as well as a motion from the Labour group to support extending the Universal Credit increase for our badly affected residents during this COVID emergency.

Still proud to be an independent!

Lincolnshire county councillor and South Holland district councillor
