LETTERS – Journey into town is nightmare

I read with interest Rodney Sadd’s letter regarding the condition of cycle paths around town.

May I add my voice as a wheelchair user as to the conditions of the pavements and riverside walkways.

Just to journey into town is a nightmare, I can rarely use the footpath down my road for cars parked too far on to the pavement, then to try crossing the road at Fulney twin bridges is taking your life in your hands.

The pathways are terribly pot-holed and add to that the overgrown shrubbery in places.

In the town itself there are really only two crossing points with so called drop kerbs, one at one end of the town and the other at the far end.

I would like to invite a council member or maybe a representative of the press to highlight our plight.

Due to spinal problems I am in constant pain having to negotiate potholes and inadequately maintained pathways.
